@nico_gutie In some countries in the global south, this would largely lead to effort redistribution among small-scale fishers, given that trawlers out compete small scale fishers both in terms of scale and production. For the protein source, it wont change much

I have asked these questions a few times without luck - considering the large volume of fish produced by bottom trawling: (1) what would be the alternative protein source if you close those fisheries? And (2) where would that fishing effort and fishers/livelihoods move to?
