Every time I hear Chopin Nocturnes, I remember Pianos are made for Falling by @fishwrites and I would suddenly have the urge to cry 😅 one of the stories that really resonated with me. It’s really a #Merthur classic.

Sometimes I see people’s progress on their novels and I’m like Jesus I’m so slow in comparison. And then I realised they have autonomy over their own schedules and aren’t working a another day job for 12+ hours a day. It doesn’t make me feel better though :(

guilt right now for taking a 2 hour Saturday nap. All I dreamed of was me trying to wake up but absolutely exhausted (I had to take nap I felt like I was gonna collapse). I have only a few hours each week of “free” time I hate it cus for those few hours I’m stressed AF 😭

@raphodraws yee that's what I meant by genre constraint I think...e.g. I think liking characters probably shouldn't (?) affect hard scifi / conceptuals / mysteries (maybe?). But if you hate all the characters in a romance, the author probably failed a bit XD

@fishwrites I feel like if I like the characters, I'm more forgiving towards a bad story but I couldn't say the book was partucularly good then 🤔 usually a good book can also make an annoying characters plotline interesting ^^

Reading goodreads reviews, I found it interesting that so often people (in recent years) seem to equate liking characters = quality of book. I have books that I loved / were fascinated with, where the characters absolutely disgusted me. [I know this opinion is genre constrained]
