The movie is making a billion dollars in spite of all the crap. It's Nolan. Not to mention most people aren't familiar with the details of the story, just the highlights. We have more than a decade of evidence that this doesn't work long term but Hollywood will once again learn the wrong lesson based on an outlier.

No, it's Nolan's way to make sure John Bernthal, being White, would play Menelaus as a woman abuser to his Black wife victim. In the original story, Menelaus forgives her and accepts her back, drops his sword, and takes her back to live a peaceful life as queen in Sparta. For that version of Menelaus to have been shown on screen, the actor would have had to be Black too. They couldn't do that, because they wanted to show the interracial marriage, broken because of bad White man.

It was always said that this movie may make a billion solely based on it being Nolan. He's too strong, no matter what shit he does, like his running issue with never being able to hear the actors properly. The problem is that not everyone has hundreds of millions of fans like Nolan, so if other people try this it will flop. Just look at the state of the current industry and then go look at a random year in the 80's or 90's. Night and day comparison. Not only, adjusted for inflation, did the older movies make more money but also they sold more tickets by and large. If film making continues to pander to the "modern audience" then YouTubers will keep making Backrooms and Obsession until they are the ones in control.

@Spiderpunkin @TheCriticalDri2 There are some very obvious bad things about the movie AS A movie. I find the soundtrack awful, hearing them talk is a chore, and the process of filming in IMAX sets limits that probably hurt the end product. That's before any criticisms of the adaptation. Which is F tier.
