One thing I love so much about cats is that they are very routine oriented. My cat and I speak in the language of rituals between us and it is such a profoundly simple yet effective method of communication. She knows when to eat and when I eat. She knows our bedtime and when I return from work. Every night she seems to know exactly when I’m ready to fall asleep and tucks herself into bed all curled up between my legs. She knows when to expect the mourning doves on the porch in the afternoon. This is a trait present in other animals too but is somehow so comforting when carried out by a cat.
