In the recent past, this number has risen to 50 percent. Thus, reforms towards individual taxation are at the brink of becoming politically feasible in the US.

We find that in the 1960s only about a fifth of all individuals would have benefitted from a reform towards individual taxation.

Should one move away from the traditional tax treatment of married couples with its detrimental impact on the earnings incentives of women? In a new @cepr_organd @CESifoNetwork paper with @pierrecboyer @APeichland @Weishaar_Daniel we shed light on this question.
