Quite an interesting point was made on our recent manager search piece for United about us actually being in a position of reasonable strength going into this next appointment, it’s not so much of a rebuild that’s needed for once. The squad is decent, we just need to add bits and pieces which to me at least seem quite obvious (CM x2, LW & LB). With UCL football, we’ll see pretty sizeable reinforcements anyway. Pretty unique position for us that we haven’t been in for some time if we finish strong this season, we need to maintain where we are in the league and just improve the margins. Feels like every appointment has to be a BIG change but this one feels different, we have good players & the momentum seems to be building. There’s always mountains of pressure placed, rightly so because we’re man united but it does feel like slightly more of a relaxed process this time mostly down to the way Carrick’s swiftly turned the morale. It all depends on how much detail you want that next coach to deliver. I don’t think we genuinely need a re-think tactically, we just need that extra 10/15% in games which adds that intensity & a bit more front-footedness off the ball. I think we’re in a good position for the first time in a while.

@htomufc If we have another success rate of players like last summer then who knows what can be done you don't need to be a perfect team to compete for trophies. arsenal aren't perfect neither are city yet both are the two best teams in the league

It’s not a time to get complacent or anything but I do appreciate the calmness we seem to be having around the squad. Caretaker bounce or not, the mood is better on/off the pitch with the club. One game a week is mostly why, but I really like how Carrick’s gone about it. Not overcomplicating anything, just small details & information, putting players in their best zones and getting them thinking creatively. I can take the more passive approach off the ball for now, but don’t doubt that’s one of the things that needs work
