These 2nd graders are motivated, focused and involved in collaborating at a level that even surprised a few visitors to the classroom. Why? They were given an opportunity to apply their understanding of force and motion with a hands on project! @fleenorgeo @bergjaso @district192

@MsHereth Yup. Some used existing pieces or boards or game mechanics but the rules were their own and it had to review the content.

Hi teachers--thinking of a mini unit on chess for my 7th graders while our 3D print projects print at the end of the year. Anyone have an resources for teaching the game or for playing digitally in class? (not sure actual boards are possible.)

Designing a machine to explore physics in 2nd grade is how I wish I could have learned physics. instead I avoided it all together.

@mrsforest this wasn't your Q i know but is the assessment worth losing a day of teaching if you have to spend a day of review? could assessment be done other ways and not just always a test and eliminate the need for review? could review be feedback day instead? sorry, not a testing fan

@mrsforest one of my fav moments, i had students make their own review games. the 2 requirements were it had to review content and have the rules written out. the next day we played the games as review, fun and memories ensued. no clue if scores improved, it was worth it IMHO
