One thing The Green Party is good at is emotive emotional connection. They didn’t put any other group down, they weren’t hateful in the ad. They didn’t try to divide…He just told his story and within that story he spoke of togetherness and unity. Isn’t that what Britain should be doing right now… coming together?
Aaron Bastani@AaronBastani

Superb political ad. One of the best you’ll see. This is better, and resonates more, than anything coming from Labour or the Tories.

What an unfortunate data leak for Anthropic. Just as expectation builds of an imminent IPO, we find out about their new omnipotent Mythos model.

The case for investing in English football. Singapore’s time zone isn’t the best for following @ChelseaFC . But the upside is you can actually watch the 3pm (11pm here) games. Foreign fans are always surprised to find you can’t do the same in England. Article 48 prohibits the live broadcasting of the traditional Saturday kick-off time. But clubs are close to agreeing an end to that archaic rule. Combine that with a growing consensus on salary caps and the football investment case gets stronger. ⬆️ new broadcast revenues ⬇️ spending Americans have been quickest to grasp this. Arise Capital Partners are the latest group to invest in English football - taking over a struggling but sleeping giant in @swfc. New rules will herald substantially higher values for English football clubs. The smart money is getting in now.

I’ve said this at my various keynotes - plastic flowers don’t make real flowers obsolete, but more valuable. The fatigue for AI generated images/videos is evident after the initial excitement/novelty👇 I feel sorry for everyone who poured a portion of their life & being into Sora. But this is also a good example of when build only based on how & what but never paused to wonder why & why not. For every builder out there - if you want to build something that change the world for the better, learn history, society, philosophy, be introspective. This shouldn’t be a controversial statement.

Sora@soraofficialapp

We’re saying goodbye to the Sora app. To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built community around it: thank you. What you made with Sora mattered, and we know this news is disappointing. We’ll share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on preserving your work. – The Sora Team

@buccocapital Most people’s problem is not productivity. It’s the lack of any clear sense of why they want or are trying to achieve. No point engaging in this AI acceleration without purpose.

FWIW, accelerate or die applies to your career, too I wouldn’t have said that a year ago. But I am watching people be 50-100-200% more productive than their peers by using AI I’m not trying to be a doomer. Anyone can do it. But you have to start shipping. Now

@jamespriceglos @FraserNelson Exactly. These “British values” can’t just be endlessly nebulous. At some point there has to be an identity with a degree of exclusiveness, or it doesn’t mean anything.

.@FraserNelson argues for a British identity that enables religious pluralism. Instead of a Christian identity that "others" mass Islamic prayer. But, as ever, it offers nothing concrete on what constitutes such an identity. What defines Britain, if not its Christian heritage?

The row over the Trafalgar Square iftar has seen Jews and Christians coming to the defence of Muslims. My thoughts on a fascinating and important trend:- comment.press/iftar

Spot on. Idealisation of parenting means fewer parents. Singaporean academic Tan Poh Lin identified this in relation to Asia's terrible fertility rates & so-called Tiger Parenting. Couples worry they lack the energy to help their children compete effectively.
Frylock@Blueelectron4

My controversial opinion is a main cause of declining birth rates is the social norm that parents must suffer like prisoners with an 18 year hard labor sentence or else be viewed by society as guilty of neglect and child abuse. Your grandparents didn't live like this.

@TheAthleticFC @TheAthleticFC really is woke drivel posing as a sports outlet. @JohnTerry26 isn’t allowed to support the views of an elected British MP? Look forward to your expose on other footballers supporting political parties.

John Terry has appeared to endorse a UK politician’s social media post that advocates for a nationwide ban on the burqa before deleting his comment. The former England captain is still involved in football and has been in an academy coaching consultancy role with Chelsea since 2021, working in a part-time capacity that involves mentoring academy players. Rupert Lowe, an independent Member of Parliament (MP) and founder of Restore Britain, a recently registered political party, uploaded a photo to Instagram that stated his intention to outlaw the garment, worn by some Muslim women, if Restore Britain was to ever form a government. Restore Britain was launched in June as a pressure group and announced in March that it was an officially registered political party. It does not hold any seats in parliament. You’re normally bombarded with cut price offers when trying to cancel a subscription. @DailyMail just refuses to let you leave. Can’t do through account, can’t do over email. Unless you’re willing to spend hours on the phone, looks like you’re a paying subscriber for life.

The Church of England can still matter w. more Don Cupitt-esque Christianity. I find increasing nos. of irregular churchgoers seeking meaning & grounding w.out any devout evangelical belief. Any revival is in this cultural force rather than SJW pronouncements.

@stefan_arrr Sense I had from @anecdotal's piece is that it's a quirk of human vs machine abstract reasoning. We implicitly understand antonyms while LLMs need to state explicitly. But I'd also guess some readers find it emphatic rather than patronising.

Sleep science sounds so right. But my soundest nights come after pure blue light swiping frenzies. Did the whole wind down, phone away, reading extravaganza last night and slept terribly. @sleepdiplomat I want answers!

RBA is first major central bank to hike rates on Iran supply shock. Unpopular decision w. domestic demand so precarious. @jpmorgan calls it a textbook path to stagflation. Particularly w. China's iron ore slowdown further threatening Australia's resource economy.
Bloomberg@business

Economists and traders are at odds over whether Australia’s central bank will deliver another ]rate increase in May or wait for the fallout from the Iran war, as a split board weakens conviction for a third consecutive hike bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
