The sudden rise in fuel prices must not distract Kenyans from the Finance Bill. Both are interconnected instruments of economic pressure. One hand inflates the cost of transport, food and production through fuel hikes, while the other quietly expands taxation, surveillance and extraction through legislation. If we focus on one and ignore the other, we will be reacting to symptoms while the system restructuring the economy against ordinary citizens proceeds uninterrupted. We must confront both simultaneously.
