@flow_yummy @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky i believe if you this is the case then you really do not understand server authority's use as a concept and why it is used in games (rollback netcode for fighting games, etc). preferring methods to stop injections/etc which may or may not be bypassed in the future is a lil silly

@mustelateer @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky my entire problem with server-auth is for what it is useful for it just really isn't lol, you yourself can stop majority of exploiters who even play your game, and server authority just causes more of a headache / extra work for no real benefit

@flow_yummy @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky that is an ambiguous question and i gave you a general answer because you don't need specific examples of sauth's use. roblox experiences which need to rely on physics replication being authentic and correct for each client will flourish from sauth, while some don't need it

@flow_yummy @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky clarify what you mean by "even better solutions," by the way. there is no way to devise an "even better solution" unless you were to implement a sauth solution yourself like your own rollback netcode. in-game anticheat will ultimately not do much

@flow_yummy @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky a few roblox examples i could mention are bad business, forsaken, murder mystery 2, anything with some sort of competition where people could gain an advantage from cheating by fucking with player replication. you may also think of games like portal 2 or cs2 or most valve titles

@flow_yummy @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky to give the server authority of client movement/replication. sure you can call it "anticheat" but by definition that's not what it is meant to be. having a single source of truth that handles inputs/simulation replication is much better for character prediction too

@mustelateer @SimoneX25 @EgirlTwekky like it's definitely not an anticheat, but that's what its being marketed as to prevent less bad actors, the entire purpose is to make it so the amount you need to trust the client is lessened, its just useless if u know what ur doing u shouldn't ever need to enable it

Additionally you will no longer be able to perform any player movements (and possibly animations) on the client. so goodbye to all your Client scripts which interact with the player in any way. I cannot see a realistic use case for this slop where the developer benefits at all.
