@flowers4dnp i can remember during tatinof there were confused reporters comparing their fans to beatlemania like it was genuinely crazy, i had a phan account from 2014-2018 which had 17k followers, i can remember some friends having 20k+ which is kinda insane for the 2010s too

@flowers4dnp i mean they were HUGE prehiatus, but in large part bc they were so involved in both the brit youtube boom AND yeemo era so they ended up with this insanely diverse audience. plus the rise of rpf in the late 2000s/early 2010s really boosted them so they just had fans EVERYWHERE

@goodphealings 5 million does sound like a lot! them being featured in youtube recaps is a big indicator of their yt fame i think. but sometimes i see 200k likes or the 1 million on big and i think woah thats a lot of people

@flowers4dnp they were some of the biggest youtubers, dan having 5 million subscribers in 2015 was a giant number for youtube which I know is hard to imagine when there are channels with hundreds of millions of subscribers now. but dan and phil were among the faces of youtube for years.
