This makes a mockery of the whole tournament. If the USMNT win, Belgium will have every right to feel cheated, meanwhile the USA’s victory - by their best ever generation of players - will forever be tainted by accusations of favouritism and corruption. It’s bad for everyone.

@ChrisRM22 Thats what the VAR is for Bro 😭😭 If the ref didn’t See it correctly on the Field then ofc the VAR intervenes if it is a clear decision and that is a clear red card there is Not Even a debate about it

@floxCS They violated their own protocol to give that red card! Any country where one of their best players were given a red in that magnitude would be fuming. If the ref saw the play in real time & they gave him a red, I’d understand it… but they re-refereed in that moment using VAR

@ChrisRM22 Not everything in Slow-Mo is a red Card and there are rules for criteria of a red card. If you Hit someone above the ankle with an open Sole in higher Speed thats a red Card. Rightfully given against quansah yesterday, against Balogun and wrongfully not given against messi

@ChrisRM22 Of Course Messis red Card is a red Card. But if the ref or the VAR makes a mistake then it’s a factual decision on the pitch which cant be reverted, rightfully so. Just because some red cards were „missed“ doesnt justify Talking back a rightfully so given red card
