In 1955, actress and singer Diana Dors opened El Toucan coffee bar at 10 The Colonnade, between L Blackstone (tailor) & Appleyards (dry cleaners) on Maidenhead High Street. It became a popular meeting place for teenagers and had a live Toucan bird in a cage in the window!
