And here’s the deeper issue: The Supreme Court already struck down pork‑style programs that let politicians influence who gets public funds. MAIFIP looks and feels like a return to that old system. When health care becomes political, patients lose dignity. When funds bypass UHC, the system weakens. When programs depend on discretion, not rights, inequality grows. Filipinos deserve a health system that is fair, automatic, and free from political mediation — exactly what UHC was designed to build. Strengthen UHC. Protect PhilHealth funds.
