they said i could never be a disabled doctor... but i did. I became unwell in my 3rd year of medical school and was told to drop out, there was no place for disabled doctors. I balanced neuro rehab & attending my placements in a wheelchair. Today l graduated Medicine as Dr Niamh

It is rubbish for everyone but particularly students with health conditions. I’m so tired of fighting for my right to be a doctor. I have demonstrated consistently my aptitude for medicine but I am continually failed by the system

It’s exhausting and anxiety provoking. Things like this is what is siphoning doctors from the UK and causing us to go abroad. We are so dehumanised by the system, we’re just bodies for service provision. Me being married doesn’t even count to keeping me in my 1st choice region

long time no tweets. I wasn’t using this account as I had made pretty much a full recovery, I was back walking a few miles a day, going to the gym & looking to start driving…my FND was no longer in control of my life. But my return to ‘normal’ life came crashing down yesterday

@juliaisobela this was me!! 2 months in hospital and still logged on to lectures. Everyone thought I was silly, but it provided some structure to my life in a time when everything else was up in the air. But be kind to yourself. Log on because you want to, not because you feel you have to ❤️
