Ukrainian military personnel who observed this in real time could hardly believe their eyes. One air defense pilot said in a closed chat: “We didn’t even have time to do anything. They started shooting each other down themselves. We just stood and watched.” Russian propaganda is already trying to explain this as “technical malfunctions” and “operator errors.” But even their own Z-channels are erupting in outrage: “How incompetent do you have to be to shoot down your own planes during an attack?” This is not the first case of “friendly fire” in Russia’s forces, but nothing on this scale has happened before.
