to be honest my absolute favourite thing to do when a fic is set in america is really pour myself into location and/or vocab accuracy and then immediately shove my canadian u's into every third word. i will not be stopping this practice any time soon.

i think fanfiction writers should worry less about this because i promise you - americans will be able to tell if you're not american. every time. it's always obvious. we always know. worrying about trying to trick your american readers is causing you unnecessary stress.
