we listened to Power, Corruption & Lies by New Order (1983, Synthpop, New Wave, Post-Punk, [Alternative Dance]) and The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths (1986, Jangle Pop, Indie Pop, [Post-Punk]) on the drive to the methadone clinic and to a record store this afternoon
i listened to EndSerenading by Mineral (1998, Midwest Emo, [Slowcore]) and fourwaysplit by Aren't We Amphibians, awakebutstillinbed, California Cousins, and your arms are my cocoon (2025, Screamo, [Midwest Emo]) on the drive to the methadone clinic this morning
one of these days im gonna release the worst folk punk anyone has ever heard. it's gonna be so bad it gives you hepatitis b when you hear it. im gonna pour all my liver damage into this song, all of the results of my hepatitis b it's gonna be like a dirty bomb, the bandcamp folk punk dirty bomb
Any reissue campaign for an out of print band should not only include the core studio albums, but also a comprehensive compilation of singles/splits/rarities/etc
Since they're not going to bother reissuing those in isolation and they'll just continue to get more pricey
Esperanza Spalding's version of A Day In The Life is amazingly better than the original Beatles version. Lennon/McCartney had a rough draft and Spalding/Nascimento took it and made it a fuller, more mature arrangement. Their minds 🤯
In my ideal world, there's a community of people who hoard incomplete physical media and trade loose discs/j-cards/lyric booklets/etc with other weirdos who do the same
got bullied into buying this at my old work by Steven who runs the label and just pressed this on vinyl for the first time even though i bought the CD copy from him two years ago (in the original shrink from 2002(?)) and helped him not pay taxes on it by paying his personal paypal instead of Init Records' lol. super sick though, one of the greatest screamo bands of all-time
I'm always amazed when I get a piece of longform or even just nicely bound writing from someone I know through folk punk.
Like, how'd you do that?? I wanna do that too!
@MarcieMushrooms It's a compilation of all the JH and WDU stuff. Pat sold it through his Spare Chnage label.
No long lost media. Just a cool physical release :)

I was extremely fortunate to see The Taxpayers four times this year and the only song I can think of that i really wanted to hear that didn't make the setlist is "My Brother Isn't Dying"
Did anyone get that at one of the other Taxpayers shows?
