@marithenerd @CarrylW @m_layton LA county is comparable to Toronto pre-amalgamation. City of LA proper (downtown) has 15 councillors. But LA as a whole has 15 mayors and 97 neighborhood councils. Each neighborhood council can have up to 30 members. In total, LA has a city council of 458 mayors & councillors.

City Councillors workload cannot be compared to MPs and MPPs. We have far higher case loads (people call us about more stuff), a larger legislative agenda to cover (no portfolios, we must each cover every issue) and in goriwng wards we also cover development. You cannot compare.
