Question for my fellow gay men - did the type of guy you find attractive evolved as you got older or did it stay the same ?

@goskiz0 its a vibe not exclusively theater kid, i have unfortunately come across some gays with a high school mean girl mentality where they play increasingly bizarre psychological games with you when you just tried to be friends with them

I’m just so fundamentally the opposite of them. They live for drama and illusion and unfortunately for us all that’s the complete opposite of my whole shtick. We’re really not so different, we probably want the same things, but our desires just seem to manifest so differently

I can fw basically any gay guy, but a theater gay is virtually impossible for me. We’re like when two magnets pull away from each other. It’s just constant miscommunication, and basically every time I open my mouth around them they twist my words and act like I’m coming for them

if i didn't spend my formative years alone watching porn and gore and hating myself i wouldn't nearly be as funny as i am today but i probably would be slightly more attractive

@TwinkTheory i think it's a mix of: a) people don't tell them b) self righteousness c) social ignorance. i know this because ive been working on my terrible personality for three whole years.

Im kind of endlessly baffled why people with terrible personalities don’t like fix that? It’s not that hard to just sort of tone it down. Do they not notice everyone grey rocking them or do they not care?

we got detransitioning for autism now
Christina Buttons@buttonslives

I thought I was autistic. I was wrong. I was 30 in 2019 when stories of women discovering they were autistic all along began appearing everywhere. They popularized a newer understanding of autism, with its own “female presentation.” It was framed as a scientific correction to a historical wrong against women, the kind of narrative the press finds irresistible. Like so many women, I felt immense relief when I was formally diagnosed. It offered an explanation for the mental health crises of my youth and the daily realities of my adult life. Then I spent a year in the online autism community. What I saw there, especially the way activists treated parents of severely impaired children, turned me into a critic of neurodiversity. But it was becoming a journalist in 2022, after discovering detransitioners’ stories, that forced me to question narratives about identity and diagnosis, including my own. Journalism also required the social skills autism says I should have lacked. From there, the rest unraveled: many traits I had come to associate with autism are not uncommon in the general population, but through the “female autism” framework, they looked like a meaningful pattern. I don’t think my story is unique. The same incentives that kept my diagnosis intact may also help explain why so many women are entering the autism category in adulthood. @RavenLynClemens there's some good bits in there but it really only backed itself into a corner and did nothing with its premise

According to a fan theory, The Simpsons is secretly the US's clever plan to fight its birth rate crisis. You watch a “Homer” protecting cute little Bart. Their father-son bond is so touching that many viewers say the show actually makes them feel paternal instincts & want kids

The male Lena Dunham is Mike white. Everything from Orange County to White Lotus is completely zeitgeist capturing. Enlightened is criminally underrated and potentially one of the best tv shows ever made.
