Hello! This account tries to explain active transportation philosophy and concepts to non-advocates who may not be normally exposed to these ideas. If we quote you and re-explain what you wrote, that just means you provided a good example, not that we're explaining _to_ you.

A gentle reminder: If you don't feel safe walking or biking... If better facilities would make your life better... You don't need to become a city planner. You just need to tell your electeds what you want. B/c when things don't happen, It's b/c a few people said "no."

They also make tiny plows. It's completely possible to have protected lanes here in Grand Forks.

Yes👇! We all know we should be more physically active. But we don't do it because the world around us makes it hard. You won't bike to work if the route is complicated or unsafe. People choose healthy actions when the healthy choice is the easiest & most enjoyable option!
Timothy Caulfield@CaulfieldTim

People are most physically active when their environments are both highly walkable and very green medicalxpress.com/news/2022-06-p… via @medical_xpress @drhipp: "...the most interesting thing is the interaction between walkability and greenness." #Move

Minneapolis built 76 miles of bike lanes -- of all kinds -- from 2007-13. Subsequent biking increases: ⬆️ 69% on protected bike lanes ⬆️ 26% on on-street bike lanes ⬆️ 10% on streets w/o lanes Moral of the story: Build bike lanes, and protect them! doi.org/10.1016/j.trip…

I’ll never forget the day my conservative father-in-law who has worked on Bay St his whole life + driven a massive SUV his whole life said “I support bike lanes because I want my daughter-in-law to be safe.” People you love ride bikes in the city. The city can be safe for all.

Activity-friendly routes are most useful (and used!) if they're connecting everyday destinations.

@GrandForksCity is there a way to provide feedback or suggestions if the meeting can't be attended? Will there be dedicated funding and design for active transportation?
