Zelensky inviting Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to Kyiv in what has been staged like an official visit of a foreign leader is a deliberate affront to Lukashenko who has just said he’d be ready to meet Zelensky “anywhere in the world”. Gives an idea of who is driving the latest Belarus-focused escalation.

@FredHunt @leonidragozin My Lukashenko comment is about typical neighbor geopolitics. The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was an exceptional temporary alliance with a known enemy to prepare for inevitable war.

@FredHunt @leonidragozin The thing is, Lukashenko is Ukraine's neighbor. And with a neighbor - even if he's not perfect - it's more advantageous to negotiate than to go to war. History shows that hostility with neighbors ends up costing both sides dearly.

While I’m at pointing out the obvious, you can’t walk 110 miles in 7 hours. If you’re a top marathon runner, that’s more than 4 marathons in that time if you don’t stop. I’m not even talking about the mountains that top off at 18,000 feet. It’s up to you to believe what you want.
