has anyone written about the phantom POC (parent of color) trope? diversity in tv/film (esp reboots/adaptations) being limited to an actor of color cast as the mixed race child of a white character and a dead/absent POC, all to avoid casting a Black/Brown actor in a lead role

Robby having tough conversations as the Chief Attending Physician bc he cares about his staff (ex: arguing with/correcting Dana despite her doing the right thing to help Emma bc she handled the situation wrong) is not an “inability to empathize with women.” He’s doing his job.
