💭: Did this album help you process and heal certain things? And how do you look back on it emotionally and creatively? ROSÉ : Honestly, it healed a really big part of me. I was writing about a specific breakup that had lingered for a while, and I hadn’t been able to let go of it. I remember writing through it and feeling so alive in the studio. It had already been a few years, but it still felt very alive while I was writing about it. I just kept going back to it until one day I felt like I had said everything. I had repeated those thoughts so many times, gotten everything off my chest, written it all down on paper. It lives in those songs now. I had nothing left to say. And that’s when I realized I wasn’t talking about it anymore in real life, because I had already poured it all into the music. That healed me as I left the studio each day. It was a very organic process, and very necessary. If I hadn’t done it, who knows — I might still be talking about it today. Now I’ve almost forgotten about it. Sometimes I mention it to friends and think, « Umm, I forgot about that ». Sometimes I listen to the album and forget how real it all was when I was writing it. I consume it the way everyone else does now. I’ll think, “Oh, it’s about her breakup,” and then remind myself, no, that was very real. We talk about it as if it happened in a past life. I used to talk about it all the time, but I don’t anymore ever since the album. It was really therapeutic and very needed. I think that’s the best experience you can have when creating music or art. It was a need more than a want.

💭: what’s next for you? ROSÉ : So much. I feel like the world has many things for me. There are many things I’d love to do and that I’m curious about. It’s about deciding how fast or slow I want to go. Even during the tour, I was doing a lot of work behind the scenes, on stage and off stage. At the moment, I’m taking a mental break to let everything sink in. It’s happened quite organically. For now, I feel like the world is my oyster. I have many options and choices to make. I hope this year will be a beautiful year for me. I’m really excited to see what it brings.
