Hot take, but I think 99% of 'IP launches' are just hot air. I feel like an IP is not something you set out to create as an IP. The creator of DragonBall didn't set out to make an 'IP'. He set out to tell a compelling story/narrative. And the IP followed because we loved the characters. And we wanted to buy merch/games/other things that represent that. For most IPs, I don't see a reason why I should care. There are a few who are doing things in an interesting way, and I think that could pan out. But in this timeline where everyone is 'launching an IP', I feel like I'm seeing the same playbook over and over. Happy to see different perspectives in the replies!
