Now ask us how hard it was to hook up a CPU tower to a television for the first time, and how many adapters it took.

oldheads really spent 3 hours clicking checkboxes and dropdowns just to get absolutely demolished by a grep/sed one liner in 0.067 seconds

Security PSA for anyone in crypto/security spaces.
I've been getting hit with DMs from fake journalists claiming to be from major outlets (TechCrunch, Forbes, etc). They reference recent posts, pitch an "article" they want your insights for, then drop a calendar scheduling link.
Anyone can make a calendar scheduling link. The goal is get you on a call, install malware and/or phish the account you're connecting to the call with.
Hallmarks of this:
- AI composed communications
- Email addresses at real domains (but they don't expect you to email it as they want to keep you on X DMs where there's no domain verification)
- Multiple "journalists" contacting you independently
- Scheduling links instead of a simple thread
Don't click the links. Don't install anything. Business as usual.

1. @joegrand is an amazing hacker and person
2. His DEF CON badges are the things of legend
3. Not only does the video include cool hacks, it also highlights extremely well the human failures with memory, PIN codes, seed phrases, and secure backups/storage
4. You may think you did everything 100% correctly, but it's worth auditing and reviewing your setup with experts

It looks like Hal Finney (@halfin) packaged the Bitcoin 0.1.0 tarball. I'm sure this is already known, but still neat to confirm.

English

Jan 10, 23:16:00 - Satoshi compiles bitcoin.exe (PE timestamp)
Jan 11, 02:34:17 - Hal Finney creates the .tgz (gzip timestamp)
Satoshi built the last minute patched (Jan 10 timestamps) binary late on Jan 10 (UTC), sent it to Hal and Hal tarred it up ~3 hours later. If Hal was in his known location 02:34 UTC would have been 6:34 PM PST.
