No, I don't agree at all.
Some of the players named walked away producing historical performances, and memorable campaigns.
You have to distinguish history from perfection. A requirement of perfection for Messi and Ronaldo - NEVER existed. But let's not act like they came close to matching the performances and successes of their predecessors (and some successors - ie. Mbappe).

There’s no such thing as a GOAT level international performer. A player with that kind of legacy simply doesn’t exist. I used to bash Messi and Ronaldo when it comes to international football. But I’ve started seeing it in a different light. Van Basten and Platini dropped Goat Level campaigns in Euros but flunk at World Cups. Pele had one decent World Cup and the rest weren’t up to par. Maradona has the greatest peak international yet every other campaign he has is absolute garbage. After watching several campaigns of players. I’ve realized even if Messi and Ronaldo dropped stinker campaigns here and then. They also dropped some consistently good campaigns. Which is more impressive than anything those other guys did.

@foxRMCF I think Diego simply played in a worse team than Pele. He also was a far more controversial figure by 94 - and his expulsion from his "comeback" WC is fraught with speculation. Had Diego played with Pele's Brazil, I'm sure he'd have comparable achievements.
