The first mention of Eostre was in Bede’s The Reckoning of Time (De temporum ratione) which was recorded by a Christian 700 years after Christians celebrated Easter, and 130 years after all the Anglo-Saxons had converted. "The Reckoning of Time" doesn't mention any specific religious aspects of Eostre, only a generic harvest feast named after a "dea" or Goddess. We have no direct, independent pre-Christian record that confirms the existence of a goddess named Eostre. There are no pagan Anglo-Saxon inscriptions, idols, myths, poems, place-names that clearly prove a goddess cult, or archaeological finds dedicated to “Eostre” from before the Christian conversion. Mostly likely it was an embellishment after the fact. It's also key to recognize that Europeans would not have access to read "The Recoking of Time" and factor it into any revisionist history until the 19th century. The book wasn't even available to Scholars until 1529 AD, which was hundreds of years after the full Christianization of Europe. The first full English translation by Faith Wallis did not appear until the 20th century in 1999, which was 27 years ago. The super majority of White Europeans had no idea who Esotre was until 27 years ago. Christ is King. Go back to reddit.
