One of my favourite things about Pear Runtime is how the underlying engine requires the developer to include all the dependencies of their apps in their app drive rather than getting those APIs through the engine itself as peer dependencies. Why? Things never break and if it runs on your computer it runs everywhere. Want new experimental features? You just install them in your drive and ship. Want critical bug fixes? You just upgrade the deps in your drive and ship. Never bet against modularity. This how you make software that stand the test of time 🚀

computer (1943) - a person who carried out calculations. computer (2023) - an electronic machine that can store, organize and process information. intelligence (2023) - the ability to learn, understand and think in a logical way about things. intelligence (2103) - ???

When AI makes it to operating systems (iOS, etc.) many ChatGPT tools will be in a pickle. No one wants to go to another tool to reply to an iMessage. Native autocomplete will always offer a better user experience.

Is it just me, or is there a massive difference in approaches to using AI depending on where you are in the world? Most in the US see it as leverage and efficiency, whereas overseas it’s seen as an opportunity for access. And you can see product mkt lean one way or another.

No matter how irreplaceable you feel at work, if there's a way to automate and improve efficiency, it will be done. Stop with the "AI could never..." Instead, reshape how you work and your tools. If done right, you'll work less for more.

When solving people's problems, it’s wise to assume you're dealing with irrational agents. A rational agent will, to the utmost of their abilities, reason optimally. It’s not a great expectation to place on others or yourself.
