5) Increased spending on social protection is not a silver bullet: current spending should be scrutinized to ensure efficiency, new investments should deliver tangible and measurable results.

4) New taxation on corporations and capital can work only in a harmonized internal market, where tax competition is curtailed. Wealth taxes are extremely controversial. Carbon taxes disproportionally affect vulnerable people. New taxes are a difficult solution!

Increased life expectancy puts financial pressure on #pension systems. High public debt levels and fiscal rules make more public spending difficult. Only two possible solutions in my view: increase #pension age and/or increase #socialcontributions levels. @ESIP_EU
