What he fails to mention is that after Ireland scored and they both realised they were through to the next round. They stopped actually trying to score against each other and accepted their opponents in the next round would be decided by a draw of the hat.
Ireland luckily drew Romania and beat them on penalties to advance to the quarterfinals. Where they lost a very close game 1-0 to Italy 🇮🇹
