@Pimp_Lord619 This! That's why they got France on that minor league deal. It'll be a Sheets/France platoon at 1B
English

yep, looks like a guy that's never played first before.

@TooMuchMortons_ Gotta stay with the hot hands. I'd stay with Sheets, Laureano and O'Hearn in the lineup every day. Arraez gotta play off the bench.
English

@adhdrunsme @TooMuchMortons_ Same. Was a hater before, but now I realize there is a method to his madness. Wonder what bat he's going to add at the deadline.
English

@TooMuchMortons_ I used to be a huge AJ hater, especially after 2021. I have come all the way around on him. This org would not be close to where it is without him. There was always going to be a learning curve for him, people forget he was a young GM.
Now just win us a championship baby! 🙏🙏

I’ve been Preller’s biggest critic over the years and he still does dumb shit like his love for old washed up vets BUT even I can see the growth he’s shown. The biggest thing is the pitching development. The Point Loma lab embodies a lot of it. Guys come to SD and actually get better now. A lot of that is thanks to Niebla but it’s more to it. Let’s use Jeremiah Estrada as an example. First you needed scouts/analysts to identify the talent, coordinators/coaches to get him to work on the right things in the minors, then Niebla to continue to work with Estrada in the majors. That is organizational alignment and successful player development. Look at the younger SP group of Vásquez, Kolek, Bergert they have shown to be viable backend guys. There’s some depth behind that group too with Henry Baez and Braden Nett. That’s huge because they’ve survived some big SP injuries last couple of seasons which they wouldn’t have had in the past. I remember when getting cheap backend depth meant getting guys off the street and that never worked. Preller also has been pretty sharp with his SP FA signings like Wacha, Lugo, Pivetta, even can lump Martinez in there. Preller isn’t perfect but I really don’t understand the hate especially after last year where he had to cut salary and built probably the best roster in Padres history. His ability to replenish the farm is impressive and somehow he built the deepest young group of talented relief arms I can recall. I only care about the Padres success and I judge a GM/PBO by what they do and I objectively think Preller is more of a plus now than a negative. Yeah it took way longer than I would have wanted but it is what it is. If you look around the league there are is a lot of mid teams absent of stars. While Padres have star power with Leo waiting. Think people are so fixated at the lack of positional player depth they’re ignoring that it’s the easiest thing to fix compared to getting star players and pitching. I can go on about him finally finding the right coaching staff too but I’ll shut up.

@SergioMQuintero Possibly the contract extension is getting to his head. He's chasing the high FB alot. The all star break is much needed. Sliding down the lineup wouldn't be a bad idea rn either
English

@SergioMQuintero Saw on a graphic during the game he has the most innings among all relievers if I'm not mistaken. He needs to rest. Was Estrada used last game?
English

@SportsSurveys2 @TooMuchMortons_ Feel for you bro. They raise ticket prices, the slash payroll.
Hopefully AJ cooking something up.
English

@TooMuchMortons_ Can I trade my season tickets for anything?
English

@TooMuchMortons_ Stoked he got the bag. But no way we were gonna pay him that. Salutes to him in ATL.
English

@TooMuchMortons_ I’ll support this if they extend Michael King and maybe Arraez too, need to make some financial commitments to show what’s up
English

@mikasboytoy @madfriarskevin I'm good on Pro. We have other priorities (Higgy, Arraez, King, Merrill) to account for first. Plus Pro hired Boras again. So, he'll price himself out of SD
English

@madfriarskevin I want him back but really anything beyond 3 years is too big a risk.
English

Who on Earth is giving Profar SIX years?

@CNaumann5 @TooMuchMortons_ Resigning Higgy to have Salas learn from wouldn't be a bad idea. But yea, I think 25 is too soon.
English

@TooMuchMortons_ 2025 is too soon to count on, Keep Higgy for sure !!!!and Campy maybe?!
I Wanna see the Leo and Ethan show beginning in 26!
English

I honestly think De Vries is going to be special so the sooner I see him in the majors the better but 2025 does seem early lol

Preller has done a lot of crazy things but this would be up there
