Mum, Dad and I are finally feeling better so it was back to work for me today. A bazillion emails and meetings, catching up on everything, but luckily nothing caught on fire. Only 3 more work weeks of 2022 left and I'm *exhausted*. Fingers crossed I get through it all in time!

Great news! Mum is coming home this Thursday 👏 Six weeks after brain surgery. We still don’t know why she’s having migraines (waiting on blood test results), but her walking and memory are good enough now she can be discharged. Fingers crossed she continues to improve at home 🤞

Mum update: she’s having migraines so we need to find out why. We organised a CT scan okay but trying to get the rehab clinic to do bloods has been a nightmare. Missing paperwork, a medication mix-up and multiple shift changes mean we’re still waiting, days later. I’m so tired.

Mum update: she is seeming more and more like her old self every day 😊 Her walking and balance is slowly improving, as is her memory. Her pain levels go up and down, so that's what we're trying to manage at the moment, but in general I feel like she's finally stabilised now 🙏

Day four of Mum in rehab. She is finally a bit less confused but still in lots of pain. Her walking is a little better though and she’s gone from two people assisting her to one (same as pre-surgery), which is good news. Slow progress is still progress!

Mum is finally moving from hospital to rehab today. She is still quite confused and upset so I’m worried about that, but it’s the only place where her walking will get better so I know it’s the right next step for her. Fingers crossed her recovery is a bit smoother from here.

This is all compounded by the fact that Dad picked up something at the hospital and he's now sick, so he can't visit Mum with me. I feel like a pinball, rattling between two sick parents, the hospital and home. I'm so tired.

It's official: Mum will spend a few more days in the hospital, then be transferred to rehab for more physio. She will likely be there for 2-3 weeks. She's not exactly thrilled. She's tired, in pain, and just wants to come home. I'm trying to stay calm and patient for her sake.

Tomorrow we find out the next steps for Mum’s recovery: whether it’s more time in the hospital, going back into the rehab clinic for more physio, or coming home. She’s getting a bit better at walking but spends most of her time sleeping when we visit, so it could go either way.

Good news: Mum is *finally* being transferred from ICU to the general ward today! A week after her brain surgery. She is still confused but that's to be expected after everything that happened. She's eating, drinking and talking well. Fingers crossed she'll be home soon too!

Just came back from the hospital. Mum is awake and breathing on her own! It was so good to talk to her. She's still a little confused, but she's a million times better than she was before. If the treatment continues to go well she'll be out of the ICU after tomorrow. 🤞

We visited Mum in the ICU twice today. She's still on the breathing tube and now blood thinners. She was in-and-out of consciousness but seemed to recognise us. The nurse says she's responding wonderfully to the treatment! All going well, the tube will come out tomorrow. 🤞
