New Jersey City University is pleased to announce that Andrés Acebo has been officially appointed as the 13th President of the University.
The NJCU Board of Trustees, under the leadership of Luke Visconti, Chairman, voted unanimously at the July 23 Board meeting to officially appoint President Acebo, following his exceptional tenure as Interim President since January 17, 2023.
A respected attorney, administrator, and transformative leader, President Acebo has led NJCU through the most critical period in its 98-year history — orchestrating a remarkable financial and academic recovery, securing the first positive outlook from Moody's in university history, and establishing numerous academic and community partnerships.
We look forward to his continued leadership as we advance our mission and prepare for our historic merger with Kean University.
