MPs shouldn’t get to choose whether to attend debates on disability benefit cuts—not when their vote decides the fate of millions. And they shouldn’t get to opt out of holding open surgeries and listening to disabled people locally, either.

@BBCGlos The use of the term "the neurodiverse" is also very cringe inducing. You wouldn't refer to other marginalised groups as, for example, "the black" or "the gay" right? So don't refer to us that way. The term you are looking for is "neurodivergent people".

@BBCGlos Hi, the word you are looking for is "neurodivergent" if what you mean is people whose minds diverge from neuronormativity. "Neurodiverse" covers everybody, because all minds are different. If you take the "neuro" off, you wouldn't use "diverse" to refer to an individual.

@Shrink_at_Large This is so definitely true in many organisational settings where getting the balance right between managing waiting lists, numbers and quality and clinician wellbeing and burnout is a tough thing to do.

The clinician’s repressed rage at not being sufficiently listened to is often even greater than the patient’s.

Are you a UK adhd and/or autistic therapist working with the same who is open to clients at the moment? I am expanding my list of therapists to refer people to instead of or during coaching, depending on what's mutually agreed. If you'd like to be on my list of useful names, please email yourcoach@thequirkybrain.coach #ADHD #Autism #AuDHD #Therapy

@tillytog01 @DrAnnieHickox Most have done none and won't seek it out. They don't want their ideology questioned. We try to focus our energy on those who genuinely want to learn. Healthy, respectful professional debate is good. Drum banging ideologues, not so much.

@DrAnnieHickox I wonder how much experience they have with ADHD professionally and personally and how much training. Sounds like a seriously uninformed view.

Dr Annie Hickox, Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsych
There is a small and extreme wing of mental health professionals who deny that ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition. They bend themselves into pretzels arguing that it is somehow a social phenomenon & an excuse for being ‘lazy’. They have little/no understanding of the brain.

dailymail.co.uk/femail/article… I live inside a domestic simulacrum of the 'is ADHD real' debate. It's annoying.

It’s common for trauma survivors and neurodivergent individuals to excel in life-or-death crises, yet struggle with tasks like putting the bins out or taking a shower. Please try to be kind to yourself and your spiky functioning.

Coach: I don't know if you guys need a programme for the holidays. Me: no pressure but if I don't train I'll have a meltdown. *no pressure* or how to threaten your coach.
