As the AFL umpiring team assesses the Nick Watson decision, this is the best angle. There is no broadcast vision of that angle. The question is whether Watson veering right is enough to call play on? Would you call it in the last seconds of a Grand Final?

Watson started correctly then improved his angle by going to his right side to get around kicking over the mark! Play on-end of quarter.

The AFL today says the umpire was correctly positioned behind the kick and CORRECTLY disallowed the score. Watson moved to the right and didn't kick over the man on the mark.

@PrinceImp1877 He is the player I defend the most against friends who barrack for other teams. Footy fans still don’t get the idea of a key forward who creates that much pressure. They think key frwd just kick goals and small men have to do this.

Bevo In the last quarter Naughton didn’t come off. His fight, his 2nd and 3rd efforts. His ability to keep the ball moving forward. Naughton was enormous for us.

@TheSaltyBulldog A robust durable ruckman. Doesn’t have to be a world beater, just needs to hold up and compete against the really big tough units like Meek and Gawn.

@BulldogKing @JackCJohnston Good point. It is hard on the ego, but way better for the team to just hold on to the footy. Bont is very selfless if doing that sort of stuff for his team. A goal saved is every bit as good as a goal kicked.

@JackCJohnston Getting pinged for holding the ball is 1000x better than letting the ball out like that. I’ve seen Bont knowingly absorb tackles and be penalised HTB indeed of letting the ball out to the team’s disadvantage.

@PrinceImp1877 We are always ‘too young’ under Bevo. Need to have a hardened ruck back up for injury prone English. To not do so is negligence not bad luck.

Western Bulldogs v Melboune - R11 Interesting to see that the age and games profile is basically identical between the two teams. But the overwhelming perception is that Melbourne are doing incredibly well with a young emerging team.
