@kelsey_surmacz4 When I 1st saw it, I was on the fence. 4 a half sec I thought EK was almost tryin 2 avoid something. Next half sec I felt the opposite. I later saw an ice-level view of the play & it looked ..😬 I wonder if it wasnt called b/c it didnt create a player advantage on the sequence 🤷🏼‍♂️

Alright, I get complaining about the non-call on Karlsson in OT for interfering with Pasta (which, instead of trying to stop Novak, he just stood there after). But anyone griping about the "slashes" is reaching. That happens 1000x per game on almost every 1v1 defensive pursuit.

@TheConfluence 24 years old, signed through next year. Presumably Dubas thinks there's something there. Fits the mold of the type of trade he said he was looking to make. That said, I know nothing about the player in question, so it's a great big *shrug* from me for now.

@TheConfluence That's more speculation than rumor around Malkin. Note that there isn't any word that the Pens would be willing move him, just that there are teams that would love to acquire him. That's more grasping at straws than anything to think about.

@HunterHodies The Pens are currently at 25 people on the roster, not counting injured players. Which means the Pens have to cut two more players before Monday - likely Kindell and Brunicke. I guess Koivunen and Hallander are the "youth movement".

@TheConfluence We've lost a lot of music venues over the last few years, so there is a need for more. Especially smaller to mid-size venues. Not every act can fill the large venues, but your music scene dies if nobody gets to see the up-and-comers.

Question for the yinzers: I saw a drone video of the entertainment venue being built across from PPG. I don't get it - you have Star Lake, PPG, Acrisure, Stage AE, and the handful of theaters. Why the hell do that need that one?

Assists do not lead to goals. Got it. Sorry, I was super confused about that. I thought assists got awarded when a goal was scored. Like the people responsible for creating the goal via passing the puck got points too. Super silly of me.

@NikishinFc @lsomers878787 Malkin won the Conn Smythe with Ruslan Fedotenko and Max Talbot on his wings. And the Sharks and Stars were really good teams around Pavelski, for that matter (Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Seguin - and that’s just off the top of my head)

I feel compelled to note that this is China's first humanoid robot soccer league, but not the first one ever. They're about 20 years too late to claim that title: humanoid.robocup.org/league/history/

NEW: China launches its first humanoid robot soccer league in Beijing. This is way more entertaining than regular soccer. The AI-controlled robots were supplied by Booster Robotics for the tournament and have the skills of 5 to 6 year old children. Robots were seen getting carried off the field on stretchers after falling over. Booster Robotics founder Cheng Hao says the robots' abilities will exponentially increase over time and will eventually challenge adult teams. "We chose the football scenario for robot competition primarily for two reasons: first, to encourage students to apply their algorithmic skills to real-world robotics," Cheng said. "Second, to showcase the robots' ability to walk autonomously and stably, withstand collisions, and demonstrate higher levels of intelligence and safety."

About 18 years ago, the Penguins were rebuilding and had tons of prospects. I started a blog called Faceoff-Factor (hence the fof in my handle) to cover prospects, the draft, systems, etc. The Pens are re-entering that cycle, so it only feels right to bring FF back.

@RMKAuthor @AGretz If a team is good, they have an easier time retaining players. Kind of like how LA and Boston did when they were winning Cups. The Rangers don't seem to have a problem attracting players, either. Those are three of the highest taxed states in the US, right there.

Leafs fans are loudest about this. Maybe make better moves instead of trading 1st RD picks for Scott Laughton. Players have taken less money since 2013 to stay in places like Boston and Pittsburgh because it gave them a chance to win. If the Panthers sucked, nobody's going there.
