The Phillies are paying Nick Castellanos about $19.2 million to play for the Padres. He's batting .190 with 4 home runs, 19 RBIs, .578 OPS and -0.8 WAR. They are paying Adolis García $10 million to be his replacement. He's batting .203 with 4 homers, 15 RBIs, a .607 OPS and -0.3 WAR. Defensively, García is +3 OAA (436 innings in the field) while Castellanos is -4 OAA (167 innings).

At some point, the Phillies righty hitters are just gonna have to not completely stink. Four lefties the get on the first three innings against a tough lefty (Parker Messick), and the righties go 0-7. Phils have the lowest right-on-left OPS in MLB. It's just not gonna cut it.

Guardians 1, Phillies 0: Jhoan Duran allowed a ninth-inning pinch homer to Kyle Manzardo to snap the scoreless stalemate. Cristopher Sánchez and Gavin Williams dueled for eight innings. The Phillies had four hits. They have lost three in a row and are back under .500 at 25-26.

Phils had Turner, Schwarber, and Harper due up in the bottom of the 9th. Turner and Harper saw one pitch each. Schwarber swung and missed at a meatball for strike three. The Phillies are back under .500.
