This trope is cheap and irresponsible. Planting the idea in audiences mind that gun safes are dangerous, unreliable and could get you and your family killed. A fear that could lead to irresponsible gun storage, easier gun access to children etc. 2/2

Two major films in the last year have used scenes where an electronic gun safe takes multiple tries to open during a dangerous life or death situation to create some cheap fake tension. Both #Scream6 and #KnockAtTheCabin have scenes like this. 1/2
