Just for the record, I totally support our initial mission in there. We NEEDED to go in and wipe out al Qaeda and try to get bin Ladin. But once that was accomplished (the first part at least), what we should have done was secure an airfield like BAF or KAF, established a robust SOF and USAF strike capability on that base, and basically used that base to hit any resurgence of the al Qaeda bases and NOTHING ELSE. That could have gone on indefinitely. But any of the nation-building crap that we actually did was doomed to failure from the start.
