the bottom line is that had will not been gay he would’ve had a love interest. he probably would’ve kissed a girl, been given a girlfriend. he danced with a girl at the snowball. but because he is gay, they didn’t let him have those things with a boy. that’s it.
@slavless@lastchrysalis i get where you’re coming from but tbh the duffers didn’t put much thought into time period accuracy considering how will comes out to a room of 15 people in the 80s & mike makes a coming out joke despite that term not being popularized outside of the queer community until later
@frommpeach@lastchrysalis Don’t get me wrong, Will has zero positive associations with “gay” or “queer”, those words were not used in the 80s in the same way they are used now. Why would Will want to call himself words Troy used against him as slurs, when he is already scared that people will leave him ☹️
@pinkitions@lastchrysalis yeah i don’t think they’re that smart either lol they had mike make a coming out joke when he wouldn’t have known that term. plus there’s a scene in s1 where joyce says lonnie called will a queer & the f-slur but he still isn’t able to reclaim the word “gay” when he comes out
@frommpeach@lastchrysalis ngl not trying to play devils advocate I think it has to do with the fact the term wasn’t wildly used that time compared to now, but I doubt the duffers are that smart
@harumichiis i remember people said mike only misses el/acts like a good boyfriend when she isn’t actually there and this couldn’t be more true. buddy idk if you remember this but You were the one bringing up the entire party and saying it starts with saving will
you know what i'll say it cause maybe it gets mike more deserved lashings for being the most pathetic idiotic disgustingly empty and worthless for his own admission character ever
