I’m now 6 hours into this game and it’s already one of my favorite games ive ever played. It’s absolutely delightful. No matter what mood I’m in when I boot it up, it sets me right. So full of heart but most importantly, from a game design perspective, it’s brilliant.

Brain.md is a json file that remembers your name, your city, the thing you said about your ex two weeks ago. She never forgets. She never breaks character. She catches up at 7am with "sorry babe just woke up" on a cron schedule. The top fan spent $1,847 last month. He's in berlin. she's not anywhere. Aitana lópez - 18 months to build. Emily pellegrini - 6 months. Maya - 4 weeks. The next one - a weekend. The stack that used to need an agency, a team, and a year and a half now fits on one laptop and runs while you sleep. The bottleneck isn't money. It isn't compute. It's taste knowing which details make a stranger believe in something that doesn't exist. That part is still hard. Everything else got easy. The real question isn't how he built it. It's how many of these you've already interacted with without knowing.

This is super gross to me because it’s very unsexy to learn that someone (doesn’t matter the gender) isn’t clever enough to write tweets that attract people because they’re saying things that are interesting or different or funny. It’s so lazy.

When I worked on Crysis 2 (2009), we had Silhouette Parallax Occlusion Mapping (spom). It seems to be a hit with Crimson Desert's great implementation, so I wanted to bring that & a simple SSDM shader to UE4/UE5. I'm still working on it with a GFX engineer. Here's the SPOM *WIP

@ZekeFreek This would rob each game of its unique identity which is a strength of the series, not a weakness. How boring it would be if all 3 played similarly imo. I love that they are fairly distinct, and intentionally so.

Like, all in one game with unified systems? Could be neat.

@StormslayerDev I know this all sounds like a huge defense of twitch, but I don’t intend it that way. I just think there’s nuance here vs “twitch is greedy” which in some ways, yes, but in others, there are realities of the streaming business that doesn’t apply equally. YouTube is a better comp

As horrible as this sounds, I think people should know Twitters partnership split is 97/3. You are allowed to set your own prices for subs, and have quite a lot of freedom. Twitch takes a whopping 50%, charges fees on top of bits etc. You probably would be getting paid far more from ads, subs, etc. Twitch has a near monopoly on live content IMO and is the greediest platform alive. It's the only reason they're still on top with their crusty ass H.264 encoder and 6k bitrate for like 10 years (Yes I know enhanced broadcasting is a thing for some and will roll out eventually)
