We've said it more than once, we will say it again - we need more than just crisis intervention if we want to end domestic abuse. Going through abuse is hard enough. Getting help shouldn't be. (1/x)

Inspiring visit to @Europarl_EN today! In her opening remarks to the @RenewEurope panel on the upcoming directive against #VAW + #DV, @sorayarr_ emphasized the need to corroborate the EU's commitment to the cause. But: We need more emphasis on #prevention and #earlyintervention

Wir können uns bei der Bekämpfung von #geschlechtsspezifischerGewalt nicht nur auf die Strafjustiz verlassen - das sagt auch die #IstanbulKonvention. Wir müssen gesamtgesellschaftlich Kompetenzen aufbauen, um so früh wie möglich einzuschreiten und Eskalation zu verhindern

With above-average prevalence and the highest rate of pro-abuse attitudes in the entire OECD, German companies urgently need to invest in appropriate response strategies to partner abuse; any broader mental health and well-being strategy won’t be effective otherwise

Domestic abuse remains highly stigmatised, but low levels of enquiry coupled with low levels of in-depth knowledge and awareness on the issue often leads to misdiagnosis and treatment of symptoms, rather than holistic, trauma-informed approaches.

It’s #MentalHealthDay. Over the last decade, mental health has lost much of its stigma, and many employers have ramped up efforts to foster psychological well-being in their staff. However, domestic abuse and mental health are intrinsically linked.
