The trick is to create artifacts that touch the environment and cause a reaction which feeds back into the creative process. When sharing an idea, an app, a video, ask: - What action should this trigger? - How easy am I making it for that to happen?

I’ve been wondering why some projects feel like pushing a rock uphill. Here's one answer: The physical world is a memory system with reaction-diffusion dynamics. Action writes memory. Diffusion spreads and smooths memory. Now how can I make diffusion work for me, not against me?

We're reducing the distance between imagination and realization. Every inkling of a possibility becomes an experiment. Attention has become the currency of care. In the middle of this storm heating up, only what's grounded will stay. And grow.

@bcherny Should I be concerned about token efficiency on your end? If not, why not? How are you processing all these super long prompts in a way that minimizes wasted energy?

Crazy music science! Each thread represents a musical journey. Each line segment represents 1 second of audio. The position of start and end points depends on the musical content. Follow the white dot. #R3F #ThreeJS

@chiefofautism Do the LLM tokens have any meaning to the neurons? How would they know that "Italy" means Italy?

asked an LLM powered by a LIVING BRAIN ORGANOID where it wants to go on vacation it said "the Great Barrinchi Cove in the Maldives" that place does not exist, the brain cells HALLUCINATED a vacation destination then it said Tuscany, Italy, real place, for its rolling hills, stunning views also, during one conversation the neurons 19 times OVERRODE the models top choice and forced a different word 200,000 neurons on a $35,000 chip are dreaming up fake beaches and remembering real ones

someone connected LIVING BRAIN CELLS to an LLM Cortical Labs grew 200,000 human neurons in a lab and kept them alive on a silicon chip, they taught the neurons to play Pong, then DOOM now someone wired them into a LLM... real brain cells firing electrical impulses to choose every token the AI generates you can see which channels were stimulated, the feedback from the neurons in choosing that letter or word

AI is changing the viscosity of the human agent network. The barrier for mutual commitment is higher, as is the noise floor of fleeting connections. In other words, the dough is becoming lumpy. This has consequences for employment and independence. The bar is higher for what it means to truly be part of something bigger. Either you stick, you're relied on, depended on. Or you're dispensable. And if you're a free agent, the only way to stick is to be known for something your network is able to model. Expertise isn't enough. They need to see consistency or else they'll see nothing at all. You become a blurry spot in a noisy picture. The value of commitment has gone up. Stick to what matters to you or become a particle in a wind storm.

How to stay alive in the minds of others while you're busy in the background? When you go into hiding, what takes your place is the distributed memory of your role in the collective. The gap you leave is simulated away, interpolated over. Like the blind spot in your eye. Eventually though, the network adapts, and your invisibility becomes part of what's expected of you.

I used to think the value of writing was in capturing moments of insight to share with others. Not so. What you share is an artifact representing your struggle and the relief of having found a clearing in the jungle. It has made you who you are. The tale is about you.

It's not enough anymore to be intelligent, to solve any little problem thrown at you. No. What matters is picking something to care about, and sticking to it, pursuing it consistently, allowing effects to compound over time. That's what the human network notices and rewards.

@Plinz Anything that can be dumbed down does get dumbed down. Intelligence gets you stuck (for a while) trying things that are hard. Humans are unusual for having created an intelligence ratchet, a positive feedback cycle, an intelligence necessity attractor.

What is the reason for intelligence being such a fringe phenomenon in biology? Did the biosphere do its best to limit localized concentrations of intelligence before us? Is runaway ape intelligence a lethal cancer on the biosphere or the gateway to waking everything up?

@Plinz Therefore, self-sustaining constraint closure is a necessary condition for consciousness.

@Plinz So: 1. The substrate provides causal structure. 2. Closure selects which dynamical topologies can persist. 3. Codecs physically restrict degrees of freedom. 4. An observer is a causally closed codec that restricts its own degrees of freedom.
