🇰🇪 Stanley Wilson is one of the best progressive passers playing outside of Europe’s top five leagues at the moment.
The 19-year-old can play as a CM but he’s been playing as an inverted LB (and even RB) for AIK this season and he’s absolutely flourishing.
Wilson is very gifted technically and he’s so calm under pressure. He weights his passes to perfection.
In the build-up he is one of the focal points for AIK. He’s regularly moving into space to receive the ball and when he does he’s quick to move it on with one or two touches.
He’s crucial for AIK in progressing them to the final third.
Wilson excels at making line-breaking and vertical passes.
He averages the most passes into the final third in the Allsvenskan this season (12.7 per 90 minutes) and ranks among the top five players for progressive passes (11.6 per 90 minutes).
Defensively, he’s aggressive and solid in one vs one situations (wins 68% of his defensive duels). He reads the game well and intercepts a lot of passes and covers a lot of ground.
Physically he’s quite quick but he isn’t the tallest player. Transfermarkt lists him as 5’9 but he looks shorter to me. As a result he’s not the strongest in aerial duels.
I definitely think he’s good enough to be a key player for the right team in Belgium or the Netherlands. Would be a wonderful fit for a team like Ajax for example.
And if he continues his development I can envision him in the Premier League one day. Someone like Brighton should already be looking at him - especially with a possible pathway to Union SG.
