@crysttttl Glad to hear. I actually might research some more as im not that familiar with Irkitsk seal activist/rescue groups because that post really did make me wonder if those seals are safe. Its not the first time i hear that actions are taken to keep animals safe so that is reassuring
@fruwuii fortunately, in case of blatant abuse public outrage attracts attention to the problem and authorities do something after being asked for long enough (this happened when a grey seal was kept in terrible conditions at a zoo, it was taken to a different zoo and is now healthy)
@fruwuii oh, that doesn't mean anything
our government can't protect it citizens, let alone animals
+ Baikal seals are endemics, but not endangered, there were talks about allowing hunting them for fur :(
@wingcoaster@fruwuii@grl_404 yeah being protected doesn't mean these things don't happen, but at least we could be able to find some information abt it, something like that video
@wingcoaster@grl_404 Oh about that, ive been there a couple months ago and they have a private pool that is always open for them to leave to and ive seen seals leaving to enjoy some alone time and then come back. Stuff had not specified what size it is. Heres my vid of a seal coming back
@fruwuii@grl_404 Them being protected doesnt really mean too much considering baikal seals at moskvarium are kept in a small and crowded exhibit

@grl_404 Hey so i did some searching and figured out those are nerpas from Irkutsk. The places doesnt have a website but from the things i read i belive they do mainly live at a different pool and this one is used for performance but i havent found any pics or statements :(
