As part of our literacy initiative, we are starting book clubs! The @fssdFMS "Grown-Up Book Club" will 1) build community among our peers 2) promote literacy 3) read middle grade books in our library that discuss topics our students deal with.

The @fssdFMS All-In Read looks a little different this year, but it's still about reading a good book! This year, students choose their own books and challenge themselves to read, read, read! Join us. Take the challenge. What will you read? 📚

Watching the student's expression of joy at selecting his free book as a prize for reaching his goals is the BEST! The book vending machine is genius level motivation! So many amazing things happening at once in this video!

Assignment: Select a person who showed resiliency. Research that person. Design a book cover and compose 3 poems about your person in the style of @kwamealexander The Crossover. My students rocked this as a part of @fssdFMSLiteracy All in Book Read.

So many great activities have come from our All-In Read of The Crossover. This week we've had dress up days & a virtual Family Trivia Night! Families received a bag of tasty, book themed snacks to enjoy during the game. We had big fun! #FreedomReads

Students in Mrs. Goode's STAR Art Class have been illustrating their favorite poems from our All-In Read of The Crossover by @kwamealexander. Here are just a couple. ALL are phenomenal and will soon be matted & displayed for @fssdFMS to enjoy! #FreedomReads

I love the idea of my kiddo’s entire school reading a book together and fostering a love of literature that “crosses over” to all their classes, not just English/ELA. 📚❤️#seewhatididthere 😉 I look forward to the conversations at home that will follow.
