Lee Kuan Yew proved in Singapore that political longevity is a byproduct of institutional strength, not military force.
He proved that a leader does not need a dictator's toolkit to remain in power, they simply need to be more competent than their peers.
Rather than banning political parties or cancelling elections, he made the People's Action Party (PAP) so efficient that the opposition could not provide a more compelling alternative.
He took a muddy island with zero resources, not even enough water to drink, and built a technological empire that the U.S. is still chasing in 2026. He achieved this not by hiding from the ballot box, but by being better.
Lee Kuan Yew made the people stakeholders, not just subjects. He built a Smart Nation that ranks number one in global innovation while others are still struggling to provide basic power.
He survived 31 years as Prime Minister because his results were undeniable. He proved that if you actually deliver, you do not need to silence critics, the people will keep you in office themselves.
Democracy works if the leader works. Banning elections is not protecting the nation, it is a confession that you have run out of ideas.

@nickmangwana Nothing was done here. This is just being crafty and devious. That claim that diesel “would have been $2.65 without government intervention” is not relief it’s arrogance. How do you claim to mitigate by further increasing the price of fuel?
