Somaliland stands united. Our strength lies in the unity of our people. Military force, economic pressure, or diplomatic isolation cannot weaken Somaliland. The only threat comes from within: the misuse of clan identity to divide our society. We recognize this tactic, reject it, and remain vigilant. National unity is our ultimate defense. #Somaliland

On this historic 18th May, we celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and unbreakable spirit of the people of Somaliland. For more than 34 years, Somaliland has pursued one fundamental and legitimate objective: international recognition and the sovereign right of self-determination. Recognition is not ideology. Recognition is not religion. Recognition is diplomacy. Somaliland’s foreign policy must be guided by national interest, democratic legitimacy, and strategic realism—not emotional slogans or inherited political hostility. Just as Somaliland seeks recognition from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other nations, it also has the sovereign right to engage with Israel or any state willing to recognize its sovereignty and dignity. Diplomacy is not betrayal. Engagement is not surrender. Statecraft is built on interests, security, peace, and mutual respect. Somaliland seeks cooperation, not confrontation. Recognition, not dependency. Respect, not permission. Happy 18th May — Long Live the Republic of Somaliland. “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”

In geopolitics, not every opportunity should be measured by immediacy some must be judged by their long-term implications. As Somaliland continues to deepen regional engagement and economic cooperation, particularly with key partners such as Ethiopia, it is essential that decisions remain anchored in strategic balance and national interest. Durable partnerships are not built on exclusivity, but on mutual respect, flexibility, and shared stability. For emerging states, preserving room for future alignment is as important as securing present-day gains. Strategic over-concentration, however well-intentioned—can limit options in an increasingly competitive regional environment. Somaliland has earned its reputation through discipline, restraint, and pragmatic leadership. Maintaining that approach will be critical as new opportunities and pressures evolve. The goal is not simply progress—but sustainable, sovereign progress.

The impact of rising fuel prices and supply disruptions is being felt across Somaliland. For many families, this is not just an economic issue—it is a daily challenge. These pressures are driven by wider global developments, but their effects are immediate and local. That is why this moment calls for both understanding and responsibility. Stability depends not only on policy decisions, but on unity of purpose. It is essential that efforts are made to ease the burden on citizens, protect essential services, and maintain confidence during this period. Somaliland has built its strength through resilience, discipline, and a shared sense of national responsibility. These values remain our greatest asset. With coordinated action, clear communication, and a focus on practical solutions, this challenge can be managed. Difficult moments test a nation—but they also define it. Somaliland’s path forward must remain grounded in stability, unity, and care for its people.

Recognition is not achieved through noise or speculation. Constantly circulating claims that “Somaliland will soon be recognized” may create attention, but it risks weakening credibility and strategic discipline. State recognition is the result of sustained diplomacy, alignment of interests, and careful timing not social media momentum. A more effective approach is clear: Build partnerships. Strengthen institutions. Align with key global interests. Let recognition be the outcome of strategy not expectation. That is where success lies.

Somaliland reaffirms its commitment to strengthening and deepening its partnership with the United States. Our nation’s dedication to democratic governance, respect for human rights, the development of strong institutions, and the promotion of regional stability aligns closely with the enduring principles upheld by the United States. We acknowledge and appreciate the support and engagement of members of the Republican Party, which has helped advance cooperation between our nations. At the same time, Somaliland recognizes the importance of engaging in bipartisan dialogue and building broad-based support to ensure sustainable, long-term cooperation. We remain committed to fostering a strategic, mutually beneficial partnership that supports peace, security, and prosperity for both our nations and the wider region.

Somaliland’s strength has never been in noise — it has been in discipline, restraint, and unity of purpose. Political discourse is a sign of a healthy society. But when it shifts from constructive debate to division, it risks weakening the very foundation that has made Somaliland resilient. At a time of increasing regional uncertainty, our priority must remain clear: • Protect internal cohesion • Elevate responsible leadership • Focus on long-term national interests Disagreement is natural. Division is dangerous. A mature political culture is not one without differences — but one that manages them with wisdom and responsibility. #Leadership

Watched President Abdirahman on @SkyNewsArabia calm, composed, and courageous. He affirmed that Somaliland will not reunite with Somalia and highlighted our independence in 1960. True leadership shines through honesty, patience, and wise guidance. #Somaliland #Leadership

From a national security and strategic affairs perspective, the unity, sovereignty, and constitutional order of Somaliland are non-negotiable. The state alone must retain authority over land administration, border security, and the possession of arms. Any attempt online or on the ground to incite division, promote illegal land claims, or undermine public order represents a serious national security risk. Developments in Salal and Awdal require calm, disciplined engagement and respect for the stabilizing role of traditional elders. Securing the western borders is an urgent strategic necessity. Peace, order, and state authority must be preserved above all else. #Somaliland

Somaliland has achieved recognition, with more expected. This is the result of decades of patience, resilience, and commitment to a future of stability and prosperity. Attempts to disrupt peace, especially in Salal and Saylac, will fail. Any actions that threaten security or cohesion are visible, monitored, and will be addressed according to law and national interest. Leaders and elders: your role is decisive. Step back from conflict, embrace reconciliation, and uphold agreements. The path forward is dialogue, law, and unity not division or confrontation. Somaliland’s progress from west to east is non-negotiable. Peace, security, and recognition are national assets that no group can undermine. The message is clear: Stability prevails. Progress continues. #NationalSecurity

National unity is a core national security asset. Any narrative that divides society along clan lines weakens the state. In a mature system, the rule of law applies equally to all political, religious, or economic actors. Nothing that risks unity should be underestimated.

At sensitive geopolitical moments, symbolism matters as much as force. Actions taken in contested regions especially high-profile visits or security movements are rarely viewed in isolation. They are interpreted through wider diplomatic and regional lenses, often amplifying tension rather than resolving it. The Horn of Africa cannot afford miscalculation driven by political signaling. Civilian protection, restraint, and clear communication must take precedence over moves that risk escalation or misunderstanding. Long-term stability will not be secured through gestures meant to delegitimize or provoke, but through dialogue, responsibility, and respect for realities on the ground. De-escalation now is the only strategic choice.

Somaliland remains committed to peace, territorial integrity, and civilian protection, particularly in Sool and Las Anod. Reports of a potential visit by Somalia’s president are being approached with strategic restraint and a clear security framework centered on containment, de-escalation, and respect for international law. Stability is preserved through responsibility, not rhetoric that risks miscalculation or escalation.
