@IndiaToday @revanth_anumula @sardesairajdeep Exactly, it's always numbers. Let us freeze this delimitation for another 50 years, untill north states get developed.

Kerala has 20 seats, Uttar Pradesh 80 — a gap of 60. Increase both by 50% and it becomes 30 vs 120 — the gap widens to 90.

@IndiaToday The 3 bills considered today by Lok Sabha were:
- Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026
- Delimitation Bill, 2026
- Union Territories Laws (Amendment) Bill
Not sure why these are being termed Women’s Reservation Bill which was already passed by parliament in 2023.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the DMK Supremo, MK Stalin, congratulated the people of Tamil Nadu after the Women’s Quota Bill was defeated in the Lok Sabha, as the centre had fallen short of the majority mark.
Celebrating the moment, Stalin, an active figure against the Centre’s proposed delimitation push, wrote on X, “TN fought, TN won. Delimitation is about representation, about who gets a voice in India’s democracy. It must strengthen the Union, not weaken its balance. Guided by Periyar, inspired by Anna, and strengthened by Kalaignar, Tamil Nadu has always stood for justice, dignity, and federalism. The South stood united and made its voice heard. Democracy prevailed."

Women's Quota Amendment fails
This bill has been brought only to fail. It has been brought purely for optics and political messaging. The standard absolute sequence for this has to be: census, delimitation, and women’s reservation.- @DrAMSinghvi

In Lok Sabha today, the bill introduced to increase women's representation was opposed by the DMK, the Congress, and their allies, and they voted against its passage.
For nearly three decades, the effort to ensure reservation for women in the Lok Sabha has been repeatedly stalled by the Congress party & their alliance partners, including the DMK.
Even in 2010, when they were in power, the Congress–DMK alliance failed to introduce the bill in the Lok Sabha, and Today, by once again opposing it, they have turned their backs on women across the country.
Their continued resistance to an increase in women’s political representation speaks for itself; the DMK and Congress stand exposed yet again as parties unwilling to support women's rightful place in governance.

On the Women’s Reservation Bill: read the fine print.
The BJP called for a Special Session in the middle of state elections, over two and a half years after the Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in 2023, only to confirm that it cannot be implemented without a Census and delimitation.
Let us be very clear:
We want the Women’s Reservation Bill to be implemented NOW. Tamil Nadu was among the earliest to implement reservation for women in local bodies.
Our concern is with delimitation, which requires careful thought to ensure it is fair, especially for southern states. We asked for consultation, clarity, and consensus. At the very least, the Bill could have been delinked and implemented.
The NDA could have delinked it. They chose not to.
They could have used this time to consult states on delimitation. They chose not to.
They could have addressed these concerns in the Bill. They chose not to.
This is not justice. This is not intent. This is optics.
Women in Tamil Nadu see through this.
Women across India are not a vote bank. They are watching.
The truth is simple: the BJP could have delivered. It chose not to.

இது நீதியல்ல;
இது உண்மையான நோக்கமல்ல;
